FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

El Paso Hispanic Chamber Focuses on Mentoring
Communities Future Leaders with New Program

The El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting applications for its inaugural Politica Nueva Candidate Program. The program, over a year in the making, seeks to help mentor the future leaders of tomorrow by providing them with an initial education into the many facets of launching a political venture.

After receiving numerous comments and questions from business members in regard to how to run for political office or how to be elected to a state or corporate board or commission, the Chamber began looking at creating a program that would help those interested in public service launch a political venture. In response to this growing need in the community to help educate tomorrow’s leaders, the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has created the Politica Nueva program.

This yearlong program will feature monthly classes that cover key topics such as fundraising, ethics, and working with the media. The goal of these sessions is to provide participants with a well-rounded education in politics and launching a political venture.  The sessions will be led by guest speakers who are proficient in the covered field including elected officials from both parties who will be able to provide first-hand experience in many of the topic areas.

The purpose of the program is to educate in an unbiased, informational manner and is not affiliated with any political party. The program is designed to prepare business professionals from the region to run for office, not to promote any one political party over another.

Business professionals seeking to cultivate their political background connect with their peers, and join an educational organization that will help them develop and grow their knowledge should apply for the Politica Nueva program as soon as possible. The application is now available online and must be turned in to the Hispanic Chamber no later than Friday, June 17th by 5:00 pm. The initial session, a Welcome Reception, will be held at the Chamber on June 29th at 5:30 pm.

For more information about the program or to apply, please contact Michelle Luevano at the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at 915.566.4066.
